WARP SPEED CALCULATIONS

Warp speed calculations are determined by factoring light speed drive power output by warp field density.  The result is a "Warp Factor" rating which determines the relative speed of a space vessel in faster than light concepts.

Until the year 2302, warp factors exponentially increased, with the fastest warp speed on record being that of Warp 14 achieved in the 2260s by the starship USS Enterprise.

Warp Speed Power Utilization Curve

In the 24th century, a "new" warp scale was developed which placed Warp Ten as the absolute infinite speed.  As a vessel traveled faster then Warp Nine, higher speeds were determined by increasing decimal variables (9.9, 9.999, 9.99999), etc with the theoretical speed of Warp Ten beyond the reality threshold.
